Formulations with a reason to exist

We don't just mix what you ask for. We find the angle that makes your product worth choosing, then build it into the formula.

Two ways we can help

Whether you are building a new range or getting more from an existing one, you work directly with the people who formulate Shogun Fertilisers and JOY Fertilisers.

Formulation development

A new product, a new range or a reformulation. We start from your market and your growers, not a stock recipe.

  • Base nutrients, additives and plant-specific feeds
  • Hydroponic, coco, soil and houseplant markets
  • Research-led ingredients that give a real point of difference

Technical support

Practical help for products already on the market, or ones getting ready to launch.

  • Fertiliser labelling and legal compliance
  • Troubleshooting performance and stability
  • Feed charts, usage guidance and grower support

How a project works

Four stages from first conversation to a formula ready for production. When you are ready to make it, our contract manufacturing team takes it from there.

  1. Brief

Your market, your growers, your price point and what the product needs to beat.

  2. Research

We look at current research, ingredients and plant growth technologies to find your angle.

  3. Develop and trial

Small trial batches, tested and refined until the formula does what it needs to.

  4. Ready to produce

A finished formula and the technical information behind it, ready for manufacturing.

Technology from our own lab

Our own brands are where we prove the approach. Two examples from the Shogun range, still unique and still leading the way in innovation after a decade on the market.

SmartZen Yield Maximiser logo

SmartZen Yield Maximiser

What it does

A blend of sterols, lignans, tannins, lipids and hydrocarbons built into every Shogun base feed. It supports photosynthesis and helps plants cope with heat stress - in practice it acts like a high end booster baked directly into every SHOGUN base feed.

Why it matters to the grower

More of the light and nutrient a plant receives turns into growth. Trials showed yield gains of 6–8% over standard NPK feeds.

AquaZen Slow Water

What it does

Improves how nutrient solution wets coco fibre, so it spreads through the whole root zone instead of running down the sides and out of the pot. This eliminates dry spots in your coco (where roots cant grow).

Why it matters to the grower

No more false drain: every root gets an even feed, less nutrient is wasted and root growth is stronger.

Common questions

Do I need a finished specification?

No. An idea and a target market are enough to start. We help shape the specification with you.

Can you improve a product I already sell?

Yes. We can review an existing formulation and suggest changes to performance, stability, dilution rate or cost.

Can you manufacture it as well?

Yes. We formulate and manufacture in the UK, so a finished formula can move straight into production.

An idea is enough to start

Tell us a little about your project and we will come back to you to talk it through.
